goodbye 2007

looking back on 2007, there have been many ups and downs, lots of changes, and it's truly been a challenging but amazing year :D

a new chapter in my life began the day i stepped into SAJC. i still remember the 1st day of school when st marg's girls flocked together since we didn't know anybody else. went into OGs for orientation & made a couple of friends in OG11, but we're not exactly in contact now anymore \: then we were put into CGs. i remember the first time we met in the classroom with ms linda tan (hope i got her name correct? haha) then we took a group picture!!! and i was next to serene even though we didnt know each other yet. haha i doubt she remembers and i dont know why i keep remembering this particular incident either.!

we got to know each other better and soon SASI formed [: we don't exactly know why/how we formed. but err i think it's because of 2 main reasons: 1) we they were the usual pon-ers! and they kept making me pon while i was trying to persuade everyone to come for lessons. HAHAHA but now that i look back on it, i don't exactly regret skipping those lectures to play cards (slapjack!) or hang out in the SC with them. 2) glen huiqi zj and i go home together all the time. i think lots of lame stuff started on those long train rides from potong pasir to outram then outram to JE. then i think serene & i were pretty close and huiqi & liphin were too, so in the end there was 6 of us :D

oh, random memories! there was me going through that B&J ice cream obsession phase as well haha. & i'll never forget my favourite day of PAE when we skipped GP lesson in the morning then had a blast the rest of the day [: all the moments we spent together i'll never ever forget, be it PE lessons or just hanging out in the caf.

we've no official clique anniversary but i think we've decided on the 1st day of JAE? because that's the day we realised (okay, probably just me) that JC wouldn't be the same without each other and so remember we met at cine that lonely anti-social emo day for dinner & took that photo from the phonebooth?

another significant part of PAE was the POPing sessions with chanxi and steffie! [: during the long breaks in between school and lessons, we'd go to PS or to macs to pig out. and it's really professional pigging out okay. once we went for a heavy meal at PS (cant rmb what) then for gelare's waffles- we got ONE EACH with 2 scoops of ice cream. omg that was the first time we felt so sick of food. haha.

then, of course, other choir memories with the seniors and how we bonded before concert and SYF. i remember the feeling of being in a co-ed (girls and boys) choir for the first time and how fascinating it was to sing with tenors and basses :D

**
my life's next chapter began when we were posted into our permanent classes. i remember i was constantly hanging out with the scholars (they were the only ones from S22 in S17) and so many thought i was a scholar too \: haha then i somehow found out that gen lived in bukit batok too so we started going home together. then one day at the caf, over some strawberry flavoured pocky, MASSES was formed [:

we have 4 masses originals-- me, gen, liphin and huilin! and huilin was from my sec 4 class and we were never really close until we came to SA. then over time we recruited (haha) 2 other members, loan and cindy. and we all have a few things in common, (aside from converse shoes i mean. ahhhh gen go get!) which was really what brought us together in the first place. all the crazy stuff we did together-- talking in abbreviated forms, drawing star-crossed lovers in chem tutorial, snacking during math lectures, bathing after PE and taking the long route to class to avoid ms K, chillin at PS (always PS!) and going to action city, not to mention the hunt for masses bag (which is still on btw..?) [:

then in the later part of the year.. how liphin & my group somewhat "teamed up" for PW, how we mugged hard together for promos, staying back til late night, and made it til the end together :D these are the things that make me feel so thankful for friends like them! and yknow until now, we still have no complete group photo with 6 of us which is strange since we see each other in school everyday. oh well, 1st day of school okay!!!

thinking back, there's also been headbanger meet ups fitted into our schedules, proving that absence makes the heart grow fonder now that we're in diff schools. and i won't forget the sms-es and calls of encouragement that made school and the stress that comes with it a little more bearable :D

**
of course i had my low moments as well. beginning with PW. most of you probably know my plight. that seriously sucked bad.. i remember emo-ing abt it silently almost every lesson. \:

then the changes we've all had to go through adjusting to jc life. i remember stressing out over studies, choir & pretty much everything at some points during the year. i hated waking up in the mornings and having to go to school, i hated pretty much everything about school (except maybe friends) and only looked forward to holidays. but then again isn't that pretty normal?

**
SO just a recount of my life and the friendships i've forged over the past year. all i can say is that i'm really blessed to have friends like YOU [: and even though i may not say it often or not at all, know that i love you all and i don't know what my life would be like without every single one of you :D

resolutions in my next post!!!

**
Here's to the new year, 2008,
a gift still waiting inside its crate.
May its bright, shiny package
contain even more than we hope for,
and may it bring you all you want and more!

And when we're delighting in our new treasures,
let's not forget 2007's pleasures—
the blessings we've received, all the friendships we've made.
Make a list, and check it twice,
before those good memories fade.

And here's to all you wonderful people
who've been with me in the race i run;
I hope that in the new year to come
you see yourselves the way I see you:
caring, loveable & fun [:

To 2008:
May it give a whole new meaning
to the phrase, LA DOLCE VITA-- "the good life."
